Plus a new work by a Manchester young composer.
NICHOLAS KRAEMER conductor Perfect for a Sunday afternoon, this concert with Manchester Camerata focuses on two of the most popular classical composers, Haydn and Mozart. Haydn’s Symphony no.43, Mercury and Mozart’s Symphony no.29 were written within two years of each other, and both share the same wit and charm, as well as buoyant, effervescent finales. Two of Camerata’s extraordinary musicians, flautist Guy Eshed and cellist Hannah Roberts, take centre stage for Mozart’s Flute Concerto no.2, and Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C. Both concertos are engaging and upbeat with dazzling cadenzas requiring some nifty fingerwork from both soloists. TALKING POINT: Take this free opportunity to enjoy a relaxed discussion with the musicians at 2.00pm in the Lyceum Theatre.
